The cableway was built in 1966 and is considered a cultural heritage monument. Its rehabilitation was carried out in 2024 by GeoSpecTrans, preserving its authenticity. The inclination angle of the cableway's chord is 48.3%, making it the steepest cableway in Europe.

The 'Kiduli People’s Cableway – Martvili' was built during Soviet Georgia and was rehabilitated by GeoSpecTrans in 2011.

The Bagebi Cableway was built in 1980 by GeoSpecTrans and was rehabilitated in 2019.

The Borjomi Cableway was built in the 1980s and reconstructed by GeoSpecTrans in 2004.
